How to Design a Disruptive Suite in Ibiza: U Interior Design’s Project for The Unexpected Ibiza Hotel

In one of the episodes of our Espacios que Hablan podcast, we dive deeper with Antonio Guillamón into one of our most striking interior design projects: the transformation of the presidential suite at The Unexpected Ibiza Hotel. A case aligned with 2025 hotel interior design trends, where design becomes an experience, not just a space.

Laura Huerta describes the moment the team decided to break the rules: “When we arrived at that presidential room and started changing everything at the last minute so it would become even more transgressive.” This approach captures the essence of luxury hotel interior design, where creativity and strategy come together to deliver something the guest is not expecting—but absolutely wants to experience.

An Interior Design Project That Redefines Luxury in Ibiza: Exceeding Expectations in Hospitality

Antonio Guillamón offered a key reflection on the need to go further in hotel-focused interior design: “We had to significantly elevate the client’s expectations, to create a space they could walk into and immediately understand it was a privileged suite.”

This objective defines today’s hotel interior design projects, where every detail must communicate exclusivity, differentiation, and a coherent aesthetic narrative. It’s not just about beautifying—it’s about crafting identity and purpose.

Inspiration from the Surroundings: Formentera, Dalt Vila, and Mediterranean Essence

One of the most influential elements in the creative process was the landscape itself. Laura recalls how the views even affected her concentration during site visits: “I would turn my back to the window so I wouldn’t see the views because it was like… I couldn’t, I was distracted all the time.”

Antonio expands on this idea: “It throws you off, and beyond that, it’s everything—the context, Formentera, Dalt Vila.”

This connection between environment and design is a fundamental pillar of contract interior design, especially when working in emotionally powerful destinations like Ibiza, where every project engages in dialogue with the sea, the light, and Mediterranean life.

A Suite Designed to Break the Mold: Disruptive Functionality

What truly makes this suite unique is its atypical functionality within a hotel. Laura explains: “It has uses that aren’t common… it even has a DJ setup inside the living room. It also has to be able to turn into an improvised dance floor if they host an event… it makes it completely different and disruptive.”

This approach redefines the concept of the hotel experience and exemplifies the evolution of hotel design, where suites are no longer just spaces to rest but flexible environments capable of hosting meetings, celebrations, and unexpected moments.
