In the penultimate episode of our podcast Espacios que Hablan, available on our YouTube channel, we shared an inspiring conversation between Laura Huerta, Interior Design Director at U Interior Design, and Álvaro Piña Serrano, Commercial Director at Suministros Ibiza. In this excerpt, they reflect on the creative process and the shared experience of shaping Ibiza Soul, the lobby we designed for the 60th edition of Casa Decor.
This space was born from a shared desire to reinterpret the concept of luxury, placing at its core a material that defines the unique identity of Ibiza Stone. With Ibiza Soul, we sought to go beyond aesthetics to offer a sensory experience that captures the spirit of the island and brings it to the heart of Madrid.
Álvaro Piña explains during the conversation that taking part in Casa Decor was a key strategic decision. “It’s an annual meeting for interior design trends and it gives you visibility and places you where the trendsetters of this country are in terms of interior design,” he says. Their presence at the event not only responded to a need for positioning within the sector but also had a clear objective: to expand the scope of Ibiza Stone and move it beyond its traditional context. As Álvaro points out, “It’s an essential stop within our strategy to make ourselves known and, of course, within our role as manufacturers of Ibiza Stone, so that its use extends beyond the Pityusic Islands.”
From the conceptual phase, the project presented a challenge for both us and Suministros Ibiza. “From the concept phase we could already see it was quite a challenge and, well, the result speaks for itself – it’s spectacular,” says Álvaro. His trust in the creative process and in the artistic direction led by Laura Huerta was unwavering, even when the final details of the space remained uncertain: “You trusted us blindly, because up until the day you arrived, you didn’t really know what we were going to do,” Laura remarks playfully.
Ibiza Soul is not just an aesthetic statement; it is a material manifesto. Every surface, texture and volume has been conceived to highlight the unique qualities of Ibiza Stone—its brightness, its tactile appeal, its ability to evoke the Mediterranean landscape without artifice. The space combines architectural elegance with an emotional language that invites visitors to pause, breathe, and connect with an idea of intimate and sincere luxury.
The success of this collaboration and the warm reception it received at Casa Decor are a testament to the power of materials when worked with respect, vision and sensitivity. Ibiza Soul is, without doubt, a celebration of substance, design, and creative synergy.
