Restaurante Hell’s Kitchen – The Unexpected Ibiza Hotel

With the Hell’s Kitchen project, we developed a space where design, gastronomy and entertainment come together to create a fully immersive experience. Located at The Unexpected Ibiza Hotel, the restaurant marked the first arrival in Europe of chef Gordon Ramsay’s iconic concept, bringing to the island an international format that combines fine dining, dramatic tension and a highly recognisable visual identity.

From the outset, we approached the project with the aim of capturing the essence of the Hell’s Kitchen universe and reinterpreting it within the context of Ibiza. We drew inspiration from the aesthetic of the well-known television programme to create a vibrant space where energy, intensity and dynamism can be felt from the very first moment. The result was an environment that not only welcomes diners, but draws them into a narrative in which everything unfolds around them.

One of the central elements of the design was the open kitchen, conceived as a true stage. We designed this space as the heart of the restaurant, allowing diners to watch the chefs at work and turning the culinary process into a fundamental part of the experience. This direct relationship between the guest and the kitchen reinforces the performative character of the concept, in keeping with the essence of the original format.

Lighting played a key role in shaping the atmosphere. We designed a lighting system that intensified the spatial narrative through contrasts of red and blue light, shadow effects and flashes that evoke the fire and energy of the kitchen. Combined with warm tones in the flooring and surfaces, these elements allowed us to create a constant sense of tension, dynamism and theatricality.

In terms of materials, we opted for a sophisticated industrial aesthetic, integrating metal, steel and chains into bars, tables and decorative elements. We worked with brushed and blackened finishes to add depth and character, while the use of smoked and tinted glass allowed us to articulate the space and create different levels of privacy without losing visual continuity. This combination reinforced the restaurant’s identity as a bold environment that is, at the same time, carefully designed.

We also introduced materials that brought warmth and contrast, such as leather and robust textiles, as well as backlit quartzite surfaces and copper and brass details. These elements allowed us to balance the hardness of the industrial language with a more refined dimension, elevating the perception of the space and aligning it with a contemporary concept of luxury.

The strategic use of mirrors was another key element of the project. We incorporated them to amplify the sense of energy, multiply the lighting effects and enhance the perception of space, helping to create an immersive and dynamic atmosphere.

With this project, we did not simply design a restaurant, but a complete experience in which every element, from the layout to the materials and lighting, was conceived to intensify the guest experience. Hell’s Kitchen Ibiza thus established itself as a space where gastronomy merges with design and entertainment, redefining the way restaurants are experienced within the hotel and leisure context of the island.
