In the penultimate episode of our podcast Espacios que Hablan, Laura Huerta, Interior Design Director at U Interior Design, sat down with Álvaro Piña Serrano, Commercial Director at Suministros Ibiza. As Álvaro explained during the podcast, “Suministros Ibiza, as you know, is a company that was founded 61 years ago. It was founded by Abel Matutes, it was the first company he ever founded, and it was created to build hotels.” This quote not only reflects the company’s origins but also its identity, which is deeply rooted in the tourism development of Ibiza and Formentera.
Over the years, the company has evolved to meet the demands of the market, always preserving what Álvaro described as its “hotel DNA”: “It’s a company that was created within the world of construction materials to begin building hotels, so this hotel DNA is more than in our blood.” Today, Suministros Ibiza combines a strong industrial arm with a powerful distribution network for construction materials.
During the conversation, Laura and Álvaro discussed the various services the company offers. The industrial division is primarily focused on the local market of Ibiza and Formentera, and includes the operation of two concrete plants in Ibiza, one in Formentera, a rebar workshop, a mortar factory, and a natural stone workshop—where the iconic “Piedra de Ibiza” (Ibiza Stone) stands out.
On the other hand, the company also boasts a robust distribution line, offering a broad portfolio of products: from bathroom equipment to ceramic and vinyl cladding, as well as installations and an outstanding selection of natural stone. This wide-ranging service offering positions Suministros Ibiza as a comprehensive supplier for both hotel and residential projects.
