In the first episode of our video podcast Espacios que hablan by U Interior Design, we had the privilege of having Llanos Espinosa, Investment and Hotel Operators Consultant, as a special guest. Together with Laura Huerta, Interior DesignDirector at U Interior Design, they shared their valuable insight into the world of hotel design and operation, focusing on the complexity and dynamics of high-end projects.
Llanos Espinosa took us through the expectations surrounding the creation of hotels, especially when it comes to 5 star luxury. Although each project is unique and requires special care, it is evident that the demands and level of detail in these types of establishments are much higher than in 4-star hotels. Despite these differences, the excitement of these projects lies in the ability to surprise, especially in smaller projects where creativity and theme can play a crucial role. He enthusiastically mentioned the creation of several hotels in Benidorm, where they have managed to develop themed concepts that have not only delighted clients, but have also resulted in successful projects.
During the conversation, Llanos Espinosa shared an invaluable piece of advice for those immersed in the world of hotel development and operation:
The importance of teamwork and stress management.
In the process of designing and executing a hotel project, it is crucial to be open to collaboration and avoid falling into selfish attitudes. The ability to properly manage moments of stress and crisis is fundamental, especially in projects with short deadlines, where delays in the opening of a hotel can have significant economic consequences.
One of the most interesting points of the episode was the reflection on the final phase of a hotel project: the opening. Llanos Espinosa described this moment as one of the most chaotic, as rooms and other spaces are often finished just minutes before the first customer walks through the door. This stage becomes a real catalyst that shapes the project, driving the entire team to do their best to ensure the hotel is ready to welcome guests.
