At U Interior Design, we understand interior design as a way of creating experiences. It is not simply about designing spaces, but about shaping sensations, journeys, silences, balances, and atmospheres capable of transforming the way we inhabit our surroundings.
With this vision, Aether was born—the space designed by U Interior Design for Jacob Delafon at Casa Decor. Conceived as a unique sculptural installation created exclusively for this latest edition, the project explores the relationship between matter, light, and movement.
Aether stems from an essential idea: rethinking the way a space is divided and defined. Rather than relying on rigid boundaries or conventional partitions, the project proposes a new way of creating environments through lightness, transparency, and the immersive presence of materials. The result is an ethereal piece, suspended in the air and seemingly weightless, appearing to float while transforming the environment around it.
A Habitable Sculpture
The central element of Aether is crafted from carefully selected materials, with structured textiles playing a leading role. Their use goes beyond decoration; they become architectural matter, volume, flexible boundaries, and generators of space.
Through these materials, the sculpture gives rise to organic forms that bloom and expand with delicate elegance. It does not impose itself upon the space but rather accompanies it. It does not divide abruptly, but instead suggests, envelops, and allows the environment to breathe.
This approach to design transforms Aether into a living piece, capable of engaging in dialogue with its surroundings and evolving according to light, perspective, and the position of the observer. Every angle reveals a different interpretation. Every path offers a new perception.
Light as an Active Material
In Aether, light functions as far more than a source of illumination. It is an essential component of the project. Light passes through the layers of the installation, filters between its volumes, and casts ever-changing shadows that reinforce its dynamic character.
Through this interaction, the sculpture ceases to be a static object and becomes a sensory experience in constant evolution. Matter grows lighter, boundaries soften, and the space acquires an almost atmospheric dimension.
The result is an interior that cannot be understood at a single glance, but is gradually discovered over time. A space that invites visitors to pause, observe, breathe, and allow themselves to be immersed within it.
A New Way of Experiencing the Bathroom
Aether also offers a reflection on the bathroom as an emotional space. Traditionally understood through the lens of functionality, here the bathroom is transformed into a place of contemplation, calm, and wellbeing.
The proposal slows the pace and creates a sense of pause. Its quiet, enveloping, and balanced presence builds an aesthetic of serene elegance, where every element appears to serve a deeper experience.
In this sense, Aether is more than an interior design intervention or a sculpture integrated into a space. It is a way of understanding design as atmosphere. An expression of the balance between the tangible and the intangible, where matter dissolves into light and space becomes emotion.
With Aether, U Interior Design presented at Casa Decor a proposal that explores new possibilities for contemporary interior design: spaces that are more sensitive, lighter, and more deeply connected to the experience of those who inhabit them.
