The Unexpected Ibiza Hotel

With The Unexpected Ibiza Hotel project, we completely transformed the former The Ushuaïa Tower building, creating a new icon of interior design on the island. We took on the challenge of redefining its identity through a comprehensive proposal encompassing 181 rooms and suites, as well as its shared areas and gastronomic spaces. These include The Oyster & Caviar Bar, a provocative concept focused on marine luxury and sensory experience, and Hell’s Kitchen, the major new addition created by internationally renowned chef Gordon Ramsay.

From the outset, we conceived this project as an evolution of the concept of luxury in Ibiza, capturing its essence as a destination for entertainment, wellbeing and exclusivity. To achieve this, we structured the design around three fundamental pillars: avant-garde design, technological innovation, particularly in lighting, and an experience deeply centred on the user. The result was an immersive environment that redefined not only the space itself, but also the way guests experience it.

We opted for a disruptive formal language in which bold geometries and clean lines coexist with high-quality materials to create a vibrant and sophisticated atmosphere. We incorporated bronze, tempered mirrored glass, metal mesh, treated wood and innovative solutions such as 3D printing using recycled plastics from the sea, creating contemporary and sensory spaces. The colour palette, dominated by metallic tones such as copper, gold and bronze, was balanced with blacks and greys, contrasted with whites, neutrals and the brand’s iconic red.

One of the key elements of the project was the development of an intelligent lighting system for the rooms and suites. We designed a lighting experience capable of adapting both to the time of day and to each guest’s individual preferences, allowing intensities, colour temperatures and atmospheres to be personalised through an intuitive interface. In this way, lighting becomes an active element that accompanies the guest and transforms the space in real time, reinforcing the sensory dimension of the project.

The rooms were conceived as unique settings where design, technology and narrative coexist to offer differentiated experiences. The Fashion Victim Room was designed as an iconic space, with a circular bed facing the sea as its focal point, accompanied by features such as ceiling mirrors, an integrated shower and a jacuzzi on the terrace, creating a provocative and inspiring atmosphere.

In contrast, the Presidential Suite “I’m On Top Of The World” was designed as the ultimate expression of contemporary elegance and exclusive comfort, a space where every detail aims to surprise, balancing sophistication, spaciousness and an elevated luxury experience. At more than 200 m², this presidential suite is conceived as a manifesto of contemporary luxury, incorporating differentiated areas, hydromassage baths, living spaces and leisure features that turn the stay into an immersive and exclusive experience.

The Twist & Go Room, meanwhile, introduces a more dynamic and relaxed approach, with a versatile design full of character that encourages movement and a more active experience of the space. Across all of them, we worked towards the same objective: creating spaces capable of adapting to different guest profiles, from those seeking functionality and flexibility to those looking for a more intense emotional and sensory experience.

At the same time, we designed shared areas that create a dialogue between architecture and experience, incorporating disruptive accents without sacrificing elegance. Together with the gastronomic spaces mentioned above, these areas build a global narrative in which every element is designed to surprise and stimulate the senses.

One of these spaces is The Body Hub, a gym dedicated to wellbeing that redefines the concept of the hotel gym through a functional, modern and energetic design aligned with new approaches to personal care.

With The Unexpected Ibiza Hotel, we did not simply carry out a renovation, but a complete transformation of the hotel concept, bringing together design, technology and experience to create a new benchmark on the international hospitality scene.
